Firstly I know I have been a little quite on the blogging front but I’ve not been very well with colds and well just my mental health in general but I am going to make more of an effort to get back onto the blogging game. I have a doctor’s appointment in the new year and hopefully I can get back onto the journey of recovery.
I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas and are looking forward to the new year ahead… new year is a fresh start and we can always try to become better versions of ourselves. I will be doing a post all about my new years resolutions in the next few days… so keep those eyes peeled.
So I just want to reflect on 2017 and to say the least this year has been one of the most difficult ones for a while with being in and out of hospital and really struggling with my mental health. I have not been the best this year but I have to say it has been in the making for a while with hiding all of my feelings from everyone and even burying them so much the skeletons came back to haunt me to say the least!
I have included some of the highlights from this year and these include;
Friends and Family
I have spent a lot of time with friends and family this year and this has helped me to realise those that are there for me when times get tough and I have for sure put some of my friends through some difficult times this year. Some of these include coming to see me in hospital when I was extremely poorly after trying to take my own life. I have to say they have been absolutely brilliant and couldn’t ask for better friends.
They have really had a tough time with me this year and well I don’t think I would be here without them! They are the most important people in my life and well they are truly one in a million!
Meeting new people
So this year I have been able to go to some amazing places and events due to my blog and well I have met some amazing people through this. Some which I can see will be in my life for the near future that’s for sure. They really have been able to help me through the difficult times and really made me realise that sometimes my anxiety makes things seem worse. I would never normally go to these events due to the anxiety that surrounds them but meeting new people has really helped. One of the people I have met through these who has had a huge impact on my 2017 is Becki she really is one incredible person!
I have also been able to meet some really inspirational people through the hospital when I was admitted at the beginning of the year and well they are AMAZING! They have been able to show me that I am not as crazy as I thought I was and that I am not alone in this crazy journey of mental illness, they have really been able to show me that a bad day is just a bad day and together we are able to get through this together. I feel so privileged to of met some of these amazing people!
Shopping
While being in hospital I was shown that treating myself after I have achieved something which I should be proud of, or was a big challenge for me. So this year has consisted of a lot of shopping and well ‘treating myself’…. I have bought a lot of shoes this year and well I don’t think we can ever have too many pairs. I find this is a beautiful way to treat myself as I am able to fall in love with these items every single time I wear them.
This blog
This blog is 100% one of highlights of this year as I have been able to help those who are going through mental health. It also allows me to express myself in a way in which I have never been able to. This blog is my corner of the internet where I am able to just say and write what I want and hope that it can help those who need it most.
I really hope that it helps you as much as it helps me!
Lets try to focus on the positives of 2017 and not the negatives else we would be here all day! Life is too short and we need to focus on the good and not the bad, as when life gives you lemons, make Lemonade!
